20 October 2026 - Christmas Marquee Hire: A Little Festive Magic Under Canvas

Imagine opening a marquee entrance to find twinkling Christmas lights, decorated trees, wrapped presents and a cosy corner where Father Christmas is waiting to meet excited children. Outside, it might be a cold December afternoon. Inside, you've created a completely different world.

At Midlands Marquee Hire, our Marquees are not just for summer weddings and garden parties. They can also provide the setting for Christmas celebrations, festive community events, seasonal attractions and even Santa's grottos. With thoughtful decoration and the right configuration, a temporary marquee can become a wonderfully festive space.

Turn a Marquee into Santa's Very Own Grotto

Santa's grotto does not have to be a little wooden hut tucked into the corner of a shopping centre. A marquee offers a blank canvas for creating an imaginative Christmas experience, whether you're organising a school fundraiser, a community celebration, a charity event or a festive attraction at a suitable private venue.

Think artificial snow, Christmas trees, illuminated decorations, a comfortable chair for Father Christmas and a beautifully dressed backdrop for family photographs. Add wrapped gift displays, freestanding candy cane decorations and festive music, and even a straightforward marquee can begin to feel like part of the North Pole.

The beauty of a marquee is that you can plan the decorative scheme around the experience you want to create. Our team supplies and installs the structure, leaving you to arrange the festive dressing and activities, subject to the usual rules about protecting the marquee and using electrical equipment safely.

One Marquee for Santa, Another for His Elves?

For a more ambitious Christmas attraction, consider using several suitable modular marquees together rather than trying to fit everything into one open space. Subject to the available structures, site conditions and an approved installation arrangement, joined marquee sections can help create a festive experience with several distinct areas.

For example, the first section could become an entrance and waiting area with Christmas decorations and music. A second might house an elf activity station, where children write letters to Father Christmas or enjoy a supervised festive craft. The final section could contain Santa's grotto itself, creating a sense of anticipation as families progress towards their visit.

For larger attractions, a separate covered area could be considered for photographs or gift collection. This type of arrangement also helps organisers think about visitor numbers, supervision and the practical requirements of each activity.

Our range includes the 3m x 6m Gala Tent, 4m x 8m Gala Tent and larger six-metre-wide options. Not every marquee can necessarily be connected to every other structure, so any modular grotto configuration needs to be discussed and agreed with our team before booking.

Christmas Parties That Don't Need a Function Room

Not every festive marquee needs a visit from Father Christmas. Perhaps you're organising an office Christmas party, a seasonal get-together with friends, a family celebration or an end-of-year event for your club or organisation.

A marquee can create additional covered space at a suitable property or venue, with the layout adapted to the occasion. Some events need tables for a Christmas meal, while others benefit from a more informal arrangement with space for music and conversation.

Our Furniture includes 4ft Round Table and Foldable Chairs, which can help create seated areas for festive food, family activities or seasonal hospitality. For Christmas celebrations involving music and dancing, the 12x12ft Dance Floor may also be worth considering within an appropriately sized marquee.

A Festive Marquee for Schools, Businesses and Community Events

Christmas is a busy time for schools, charities, local organisations and businesses. There are winter fairs to organise, fundraising activities to arrange, festive refreshments to serve and family entertainment to accommodate.

A marquee can provide useful temporary space for these activities, particularly where an existing building does not have enough room for the intended programme. Larger structures such as the 6m x 10m Gala Tent or 6m x 12m Gala Tent can be considered where the site and layout requirements justify them.

Organisers should also think about visitor access, suitable exits, supervision, electrical requirements and any permissions needed for the event. A festive attraction involving members of the public needs practical planning as well as attractive decorations.

Keeping the Christmas Chill Outside

A Christmas marquee needs a little more seasonal consideration than a July garden party. Cold temperatures, shorter daylight hours and potentially difficult weather conditions all affect how the space should be planned.

We offer Marquee Heating for suitable bookings, helping make cooler-weather celebrations more comfortable. Heating requires an appropriate electrical supply, and heaters must be positioned safely away from Christmas trees, decorations, fabrics and other flammable materials.

Battery-operated decorations or appropriately rated electrical lighting can help create a festive atmosphere, but any electrical arrangements should be discussed beforehand. Please do not connect additional appliances to supplied power equipment without consulting our team.

We also monitor weather conditions and may be unable to install or continue using a marquee where severe winds or other extreme conditions make the setup unsafe. Christmas magic is important, but safety must always come first.

Decorating Your Christmas Marquee Without Damaging It

You can create a wonderfully festive interior using freestanding Christmas trees, illuminated figures, gift displays, seasonal backdrops and decorative furniture. However, decorations must not be taped, glued or attached directly to the marquee walls, roof or framework.

Keep all entrances and exits clear, use suitable electrical decorations and avoid candles, naked flames and other sources of ignition. If you're creating a Santa's grotto with multiple activity areas, make sure the decorative features do not obstruct the intended routes or compromise the installation.

Christmas Marquee Hire Throughout the Midlands

We provide marquee hire for suitable festive events in Birmingham, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth, Lichfield, Coventry, Bromsgrove and Nuneaton & Hinckley, as well as other locations within our wider service area.

Whether you're considering a single marquee for a family Christmas party or a more elaborate modular arrangement for a Santa's grotto, the first step is to establish the site dimensions, surface, date and intended activities. We can then discuss which of our available structures may be suitable.

Make Room for a Little Christmas Magic

A child stepping through a decorated doorway to meet Father Christmas. Families enjoying a festive afternoon together. Colleagues celebrating the end of another working year. These are very different occasions, but they can all begin with the same simple idea: create a suitable space and give it a festive purpose.
